Does it hurt?
Most patients find treatment pleasant and relaxing. Acupuncture needles are
very fine, almost like hairs. Usually only a very dull sensation or tingling
is felt around the point.
Is it safe?
Only disposable needles are used. Each is individually packed in a sterile container
and discarded immediately after use. The British Acupuncture Council lays out
strict guidelines for hygiene and safety in practice, which are approved by
the Department of Health.
Can I still take medication?
Acupuncture works well alongside conventional medication, although as you improve
you may find you no longer require medication.
How often will I need treatment?
I normally recommend a course of weekly treatments ( 6-8 sessions) for long-
term chronic conditions. Fewer treatments are required for acute problems. Many
people choose to maintain their health with seasonal treatments to strengthen
their immunity.
